As many people worked from home during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown , dress codes dissolved and employees no longer needed to dress up . Buttoned shirts and blouses were replaced with T-shirts . Slacks were ditched for yoga pants , shorts , sweats — even pajamas . And heels and dress shoes were replaced with slippers , sneakers or no shoes at all .
Now that many people are returning to the office , has a new era of work wear has evolved ? Is casual wear “ the new norm ” for the workplace ?
Not so , according to Shelley Harkless , manager of Dillard ’ s at Uptown Meridian Mall .
“ People are dressing up again for work and they are looking for business attire , especially suits ,” Harkless said . “ In women ’ s clothing , our Calvin Klein and Antonio Melani suits are flying out the doors . Our Preston & York line is also very popular .”
