Who do you look to for inspiration or mentorship ? My family is definitely my inspiration . My children inspire me to keep pushing and give it my all no matter how challenging things may get . My husband challenges me to think outside of the box and to show what I can bring to the table . I would say that my aunt , Dr . Annie Burns is my mentor , she is a retired English professor and she has given me lots of great advice on how to navigate through the profession .
Where did your spirit of altruism develop and why is it important to give back ? I would like to think that it is in my DNA , I have a very giving family and I love that about them . I feel that it is important to give back and utilize one ’ s skills to help others . I have truly been blessed and I want to use my gifts to bless others .
What is your community ’ s greatest asset ? I think this community ’ s biggest asset is its ability to come together in time of need . I feel that this was definitely shown during the COVID-19 pandemic . Our community has the ability to join together and shine positive light on negative situations . Whether it ’ s gathering supplies , praying for you , or just showing up , we have a great group of people in this community and I ’ m glad to be a part of it .
What ’ s your favorite saying and why ? “ I can ’ t want this for you , you have to want it for yourself .” I say this often to my students because it ’ s a constant reminder that if you have a goal , you must put all of your efforts into reaching that goal in order to become successful .

Memberships : American Association of Respiratory Care ; volunteers at Bedford Care Center Senior Living Center and Meridian Children ’ s Museum .
