Former students of Middleton Attendance Center gathered Friday night , June 28 , for a meet-and-greet at DRL Community Center , located at 5051 Highway 493 in north Meridian . The gathering , which was sold out , was part of a weekend reunion of Middleton students and staff that also included a banquet , dinner and program and the unveiling of a historical marker at the school . Middleton was renamed Northeast Elementary School following the desegregation of the county schools . Held every five years , the reunion gives former classmates and friends an opportunity to catch up , enjoy good food and music , and remember the good old days of being a Panther .
