The Haven Theater — probably built before 1925 according to the Mississippi Department of Archives and History — saw the last of its Hollywood films long ago . Today , the theater , with its signature neon sign and Art Deco architecture , is home to the Brookhaven Little Theater , which was founded in 1968 . Through the years , the performers from this company have been entertaining locals and visitors alike with an array of musical and dramatic classics , as well as Broadway hits . Modeled after the Garden District in New Orleans , it is considered the most Victorian street in Mississippi . Take time to walk over to Jackson Street and take a self-guided tour of the stunning mansions and homes that decorate the street . It will leave you feeling as though you have stepped back in time to when life was a little simpler and time moved a little slower .
