a stand-in actor for films and television , having substituted for actors such as Woody Harrelson , J . D . Evermore , Jason Stratham and the late Paul Walker during pre-filming . A rock climber and mountain bike enthusiast , he also enjoys the life of an adventurer .
After visiting Cambodia back in the late 1990s , during a rock climbing trip to nearby Thailand , Tingle became touched by the lives of the rural Cambodian people , where an estimated 9 million drink stagnated water and eat one meal a day , he said .
He began to look into ways to help them , finally launching his Aqua Share charity in 2016 to dig wells and bring access to clean drinking water to families in Cambodia ’ s rural villages and communities .
One well costs $ 575 to install , but gives so much hope to the families in Cambodia , many who work in the rice fields , he said .
The generosity shown by Withers ’ former students was a touching tribute to an extraordinary woman who grew up with very little of her own , but who had a great impact on the lives of everyone around her , said her daughter Debbie Wedgeworth .
“ My mom grew up with nothing , and she had to work hard for everything she had , and she never forgot that ,” Wedgeworth said . “ She affected a lot of people during her life and she touched so many people ’ s lives … and it has meant so much to us and would have meant a lot to her to know they wanted to honor her in this way .”
Debra Herring , who now serves as program coordinator and instructor of the MCC program , remembers Withers fondly .
“ I , and everyone I know , loved Darlene Withers . Her mild-mannered , stern lecture style held us accountable ,” she said .
