“ That was the kind of food people needed because everyone was stuck at home ,” Cater said . “ So , I put these little girls , college girls , at the door with the phone and an iPad , and people called their orders in .”
With the pandemic in hindsight , Cater ’ s Market Starkville has a solid customer base of both students and year-round residents who keep the business busy when the university students aren ’ t in town .
On Feb . 20 , Cater , along with other community leaders and business owners , celebrated the opening of Cater ’ s at the Museum , which is a smaller restaurant adjacent to the Mississippi Children ’ s Museum-Meridian . The new location puts Cater ’ s in the heart of downtown Meridian and within walking distance of many of Meridian ’ s hottest tourism attractions and businesses . Cater said she hopes the downtown location gives those who live , work and visit the area another option for lunch and a chance to try something new .

“ I love getting up and coming to work ,” she said . “ I love seeing the people . That ’ s my favorite part .” M
