A night of fun at the
Junior Auxillary Ball
The 2023 Junior Auxiliary of Meridian Charity Ball was held Feb . 18 at Northwood Country Club .
The theme for the black-tie event was Meridian Vice , a play on the old television show Miami Vice .
The highlight of the evening was the announcement of this year ’ s King and Queen , C . D . Smith and Susie Johnson , along with their Royal Court . Each year , the Junior Auxiliary selects a King and Queen based on their service in the community . Their Royal Court is chosen from nominations of Junior Auxiliary Lifetime members .
During the Ball , the Junior Auxiliary introduced its inaugural Crown Court , made up of high school seniors who are members of the JA of Meridian Crown Club . These seniors were given the opportunity to be on the first ever Crown Court .
All proceeds from the charity ball go toward the Junior Auxiliary ’ s service projects which benefit children in Meridian and Lauderdale County . Among JA projects are teacher mini grants , Junior Auxiliary Mentors , Reading is Fundamental , Helping Hands , Bloom Mentoring project and the provisional class project .
