Mardi Gras
Sunny skies drew big crowds along downtown ’ s main avenues on February 17 for the Queen City ’ s annual Mardi Gras parade and celebration .
From king cakes and crawfish to good music and parade floats ,
Mardi Gras in Meridian is always a fun time for families and friends . The event was hosted by Mitchell Distributing Company . The annual Krewe of Barkus dog costume contest and parade was followed by the Krewe of Midas parade which saw scores of children and adults jockeying to catch beaded necklaces , candy and trinkets thrown from the floats .
The parade ’ s procession was led by Mardi Gras King Cooper Huff and Queen Leslie Carruth .
Celebrating Mardi Gras were , clockwise from top right , Teddra Clark dressed in her festive Mardi Gras colors , Nina Blanks and her 8-year-old chi-poo Sally and Jade Harrison with her dog Blaze .
