“ I liked those days when we had that place about packed ,” White said of the early days at the Temple . “ You like playing in front of a big crowd .”
Unabashedly a self promoter , White is a long-time player in the music industry . He not only sings and performs but also has enjoyed a career as a songwriter and composer . He records under the Sucarnochee Records label and co-owns the publishing company Bob White Inc .
“ My heyday was , to be quite frankly , in the 80s and the 90s where I had big ol ’ hit songs ,” White said .
He is listed as a co-writer on country star Steve Wariner ’ s “ If I Didn ’ t Love You ,” which hit No . 8 on Billboard ’ s country chart in 1993 and the Top 70 hit “ People ’ s Court ” by singer-songwriter and comedian Ray Stevens in 1986 . He has co-writing credits on songs for Charley Pride , Neal McCoy , Buddy Jewell , among others .
“ I don ’ t know how many songs I ’ ve had recorded over the years , I really don ’ t ,” he said . “ But , I ’ ve had several chart in country , in Southern gospel and in Christian country .”
In recent years , White has seen a resurgence in his career .
In 2020 , he and Carl Ray co-wrote “ I Stand With This Country ” which went on to become a No . 1 on Cashbox Magazine ’ s Christian Country Top 100 Chart for Ray . He also co-wrote “ Waiting at the Waterfall ” with Nancy Harvell , a song recorded by Anna Grace Tamburello that went on to climb to No . 6 on Christian Country .
His recent song , “ White Picket Fence ,” which he cowrote with Karen R . Staley , currently sits at No . 11 on Cashbox ’ s Christian Country Top 100 for the month of March . He also is getting ready to release a gospel song .
“ I still co-write quite a bit , but I write solo more now than ever before ,” he said .
Besides being the host of the Sucarnochee Revue , White serves as minister of Livingston Church of Christ , a position he has held for the past 30 years since moving from Montgomery , Ala ., where he had worked as director of development at Faulkner University ’ s Jones School of Law . At the time , he was thinking of returning to Nashville , but the Livingston church needed a temporary minister while it searched for a new pastor . White , who had been preaching full time since 1980 , decided after a year to put down roots in Livingston . He married and helped to raise three children , Kate , Mary Mac and Henry .
White , who is now divorced , still enjoys ministering to his congregation and visiting with residents who cannot make it to church . He also loves to hit the golf course any chance he gets .
But , most of all , he enjoys hosting the Sucarnochee Revue and keeping live music alive .
