“ That ’ s when everything just literally fell out of the sky ,” DuBose said . “ People say things don ’ t fall out of the sky , but God literally just released it from the sky .” As for a name for his business , it was a no-brainer for the family . CAM Cakes , using the first letters of their names , Cedric , Alicia and Morgan , was the name he , his wife and daughter decided upon .
Since launching his business in 2014 , DuBose has expanded to include many varieties of cakes for most any occasion . Customers can choose from a selection of cakes , cupcakes , cake brownies and cheesecakes in several flavors . Where does he get his inspiration ? “ Most of the time people will send me a picture of what they want , but then tell me I have the liberty to freestyle to just go with it ,” DuBose said . “ One thing I love is people trust my judgement .”
One dessert , cheesecake , has really taken over and has really blown his mind .
“ I have always loved cheesecakes and anytime we were in the area of a Cheesecake Factory I would have to stop ,” Du- Bose said . “ So , I decided that was something I could do myself . A friend once told me they were going to the Cheesecake Factory . After they got there , she decided the only cheesecake that would satisfy her was my banana cheesecake , so they turned around and came all the way back to Meridian .”
CAM Cakes ’ newest creations are the seasonal cheesecakes .
“ We had the Little Debbie Christmas cheesecake , Valentine ’ s cheesecake , the King Cake cheesecake and are working on an Easter cheesecake now ,” DuBose said .
People are waiting to see what is next . It ’ s like a musician who is always trying to work on the next best song , except they are working on the next best cheesecake , he said .
“ One product we just introduced that has become a hot item – our Now and Later cake bowls . You can eat some now and save some for later ,” DuBose said .
Seeing the joy on the faces of his customers is what makes the CakeMan happy these days .

brings them joy . That ’ s what makes me happy ,” DuBose said . “ Knowing we are able to do something that makes someone ’ s day a little brighter . When a parent tells me the only thing their child or teenager asked for their birthday is a CAM Cake , that just makes me go , ‘ Wow !’
“ That knocks my socks off and takes my breath away knowing we can make a product that gives so much joy to people ,” he said .
