Fred & Sissie Wile Changing Exhibition Gallery ‘ The World on Paper : The Expressions & Realisms of Cathy Hegman + Laurin McCracken ’ at The MAX

Two artists with Mississippi connections are featured in an ongoing exhibit at The MAX . “ The World on Paper : The Expressions & Realisms of Cathy Hegman + Laurin McCracken ” unites two very different approaches of viewing the world that are connected through the idea of representation . The lines McCracken uses to recreate the world in high detail , Hegman blurs to represent the world in gures .

Both masters of watercolor , McCracken ’ s still lifes draw the viewer in close enough to admire the detail and to smell the owers . Hegman ’ s work , a mixture of watercolor and acrylic , holds the viewer at arm ’ s length causing one to fill the void with thoughts , emotions , and wonder .
In short , “ The World on Paper ” is a glimpse inside the world as Hegman and McCracken understand it to be .
Including more than 25 paintings and photographs on paper , this exhibition was a collaborative effort between the artists and Stacey Peralta , Curator at The MAX . This is the first time this exhibition has been on display .
