Rodgers Music Festival
May 7-15 Recognized as America ’ s longest-running music festival , the 2022 Annual Jimmie Rodgers Musical Festival will feature artists performing blues , rock ’ n ’ roll , country and gospel music , a jam session , Bud ’ N ’ Boilin ’ Crawfish Cookoff , The Radio People Singer / Songwriter Competition , The Blue Yodeler , Jimmie Rodgers Music History Seminar and more . Featured artists include : Eli Young Band , Frank Foster , Randy Houser , Todd Tilghman , Chapel hart , Vasti Jackson , Parish County Line , Crawford & Power , Tristan Tritt and Joyful and the Spirit of New Orleans .

Exhibition “ The World on Paper : The Expressions & Realisms of Cathy Hegman +
Laurin McCracken ”
From May 7-Aug . 13 The MAX , downtown Meridian
“ The World on Paper ” features two artists with Mississippi connections : Cathy Hegman , a native of Holly Bluff , Mississippi , and Laurin McCracken , a Meridian native currently residing in Fort Worth , Texas .
Their painting styles represent two different approaches to viewing the world — the lines McCracken uses in his still-lifes draw you in close enough to admire the detail and to smell the flowers ; Hegman ’ s mixture of watercolor and acrylic holds you at arm ’ s length , causing you to fill the void with thoughts , emotions , and wonder .
“ The World on Paper ” is a glimpse inside the world as Hegman and McCracken understand it to be . Free with museum admission .

The MSO concludes its Symphony Series with the magnificent Mozart ’ s Requiem , his final composition . It is a choral masterpiece whose genesis is shrouded in mystery – one that makes the piece all the more fascinating and emotionally stirring . The Meridian Symphony Chorus and Meridian ’ s own , Kristen Johnson Gunn , will present this monumental work that will stretch your ears , stir your hearts , and provide a musically stunning experience for both artists and audience .
