erencing the scripture Luke 12:27 : Consider the lilies how they grow : they toil not , they spin not ; and yet I say unto you , that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these .

Huey not only grows daylilies , she also enjoys painting them .
Her ties with nature aren ’ t limited to gardening . She also is a beekeeper , a hobby she cultivated from her late husband , Bill . “ Beekeeping was more my husband ’ s thing . But once he passed , I decided to keep it going for him ,” Huey said . After five years of beekeeping , her focus returned to her hobbies .
“ I was doing it ( beekeeping ) for my husband ,” she said . “ My yard and my painting got me through a time of grief , but my flowers and my yard are my main thing .”
Huey keeps fresh with ideas by reading books about gardening and sharing different tips with friends . When she is not trading gardening secrets , she likes to go to the garden show in Jackson . “ They have a lot of different plants there ,” she said “ It ’ s hard to find something new because I have planted most of it .”
Having a diverse array of hobbies and interests can be a great way to enjoy life , however Huey notes the importance of balance .
“ Everything needs balance , and we should give our all to everything that we do ,” she said . M www . meridianstar . com
