Greenery is an easy way to add dimension and texture to a wedding ceremony . It helps create a very airy , natural feel to the event especially with outdoor weddings that have grown in popularity .
“ We use a variety of different types of greenery , so you have got the shades of color there that give you the dimension ,” Florey said .
Greenery favorites includes smilax , Italian ruscus , ferns , hanging wisteria and multiple types of eucalyptus .
Lots of greenery goes along with the boho wedding style , another favorite of local brides .
“ The boho style is more of a natural , naturistic approach to flowers . It has got a lot of texture and that is trending into 2022 still ,” Florey said .
Handheld , loose arrangements of wildflowers are perfect for boho bouquets , along with arches and arbors decked in flowers and flowy fabrics .
Monochromatic is currently very fashionable with wedding parties although not as much in Meridian , Florey added .
A monochromatic wedding focuses on just one color , but all of the shades and tints of that color , from the flowers to the bridal party attire to the ceremony and reception décor to the food tables . Suspended floral arrangements currently are very trendy , so is providing a lounge area or additional seating , such as upholstered sofas , where guests can relax and mingle during the reception .
Pinterest can be a great tool when planning a wedding but keep in mind those photos may be from extravagant weddings .
“ You look at Pinterest and you get in your mind what you want , and it may look very simple ,” Florey said . “ But the flower you may be looking at may be one of the most expensive flowers at that time of the year .”
That is why Florey prefers to be involved as soon as the bride-to-be has a date for the wedding , a venue and a planned budget . Color and flower choices will depend on what is available at that time of year and the bride ’ s budget . Knowing the size of the wedding party also is important because it will determine the number of bouquets and boutonnieres needed .
“ Flowers are very expensive , and they are continuing to go up ,” she said . “ COVID has certainly affected availability and the things we used to get really very quickly , that is not the case anymore . We are hoping that next year we will see that getting better .” M www . meridianstar . com
