The trip to Spain
I spent a week in Spain, from 1st March to 7th March, to
present the Estonian architectural heritage as part of an
Erasmus project. It was a new and exciting experience.
Meeting students from many countries and learning about
their cultures was certainly horizon-broadening for me.
The flight took about 3-4 hours. I flew for the first time and it
was a very unique feeling. We landed in Barcelona, but the
city where most of the activities took place was Lleida. The
family I stayed with lived in Fraga, about 30 minutes away
from there.
On the day of arrival, we were taken on a small excursion
through the city to see the river Segre, where we introduced
ourselves to the whole group. I don't like such big group tasks and talking to many
people. I got used to it because we had to present our own, Estonian architecture
and country several times.
We were taken to a lot of excursions to different churches
and I really liked them because I liked walking around. The
most wonderful of them was the Sagrada Familia in
Barcelona, which was immensely impressive. One of the
best things about this trip was, in my opinion, the terrain.
Going to the mountains was one of the brightest memories
for me.
We did many things with the group, such as dancing a
traditional stick dance, baking a tomato and eggplant
pizza, and painting a sand picture.
The food in Spain was quite different from the Estonian
food. They have a lot of dishes with seafood and
vegetables. I tried many new foods, but the seafood was a
little too unfamiliar for me. Asparagus and vegetable soups
were very tasty and I would eat them again and the
chocolate was really delicious.
After going around Barcelona, we started our
journey home and the flight back took about as
many hours. The starting and end point of our
flights was Riga Airport. The bus trip from there to
Saverna took another 3 hours. I got home on
Sunday at about 4 a.m.
