Medical Laboratory Science Scholarships To help meet a growing need for medical laboratory scientists, three new scholarships were established to support students in this major.
• Antoni Malecki Endowed Scholarship Fund for Medical Laboratory Science
• Carolyn Saydah’ 65 Endowed Scholarship
• Mary Ann Pappano’ 60 and Auggie Pappano Annual Scholarship
Simulation Spaces When Nursing students are conducting simulation exercises in the HIC, faculty monitor through the windows, live video, and audio capture to provide real-time feedback on the care students give the patients in the Dr. Ellen and Mr. Eric Stang Nursing Simulation Coordinator’ s Suite. Afterwards, they move to the Joyce and Bob Asher Nursing Debrief Room to discuss what went right, what went wrong, and how to improve.
Support for Speech Language Pathology Program In addition to the Guardian Angel Fund Speech-Language Pathology Suite in the HIC, the Guardian Angel Fund established an endowed scholarship to provide financial assistance to a full-time student in the Speech-Language Pathology program.
Scholarship for Single-Mother Nursing Students Long-serving Board Member Marty Carroll and his wife Cynthia established the J. Martin Carroll and Cynthia Carroll Annual and Endowed Scholarships for Nursing, which support full-time Nursing students in their third or fourth year who are single mothers to help persist with their higher education.
Preparing BSN Students for NCLEX The Genuardi Family Foundation gifted $ 20,000 in grants to support GMercyU’ s NCLEX Success Coaching Initiative, a support system designed to guide BSN students through their final semester and beyond with personalized coaching, targeted test-taking strategies, and individualized support to ensure they are fully prepared to embark on their nursing careers. This support helped GMercyU achieve its highest NCLEX pass rate in program history in 2023.

IBX Scholars Program Two GMercyU Bachelor of Science in Nursing students, Aja Foster’ 27 and Amanda De La Rosa’ 27, were awarded $ 17,500 per year for four years as part of The Independence Blue Cross Foundation Healthcare Scholars Program. The program is designed to create an education pathway for underrepresented groups who wish to become nurses.
