If you frequent Instagram as often as we do you’ll know there’s a myriad of up and coming Australian designers treating our eyes with their creativity. In a late night rendezvous with the grams’ we discovered the work of Hannah’s from Pear & Son.
The promising Geelong based designs feature a humble but growing collection of home ware pieces, with prominent declarations to raw and bold materials including wood and concrete. What is quickly becoming her signature, Hannah describes how having a dad for a brick layer has helped in her exploration of concrete. “It’s been helpful learning new techniques with each batch of stools, bowls, tables and accessories, this can only better the product as they come.”
Hannah pays tribute to her mum for influencing her creativity as she grew up surrounded by exceptionally talented parents with a know-how for bringing concepts to life. “Pear & Son has been created to be an umbrella of creative concepts…making creative ideas come to life in practical ways using what you have as best you can!”
Oh, and did we mention Pear&Son also dapple in clothing, accessories and memory games! “A necklace can add a pop of colour, scarves are the best in winter and the right clutch can finish your outfit without even trying.” Hannah describes her labyrinth of textile cut offs used to create the individual little clutches with a mix of vintage and new fabrics.
You can order from Pear&Son’s collection at www.pearandson.com.au, view what’s on offer on instragram @pearandson or tell Hannah how much you love her work on Facebook at facebook.com/pearandson. We think you should do all three and keep an eye out for the soon to come website!
