lavell's Restaurant celebrated its 10-year
anniversary this May. Nestled in the charming
village of Kimmeridge on the Isle of Purbeck, one
mile inland from the Jurassic World Heritage Coast, the
restaurant is run by a family that have farmed in the Purbecks
since the 1950s and are passionate about offering delicious
locally sourced food. A winner of a 2017 Taste of the West
Gold, the restaurant turns out relaxed and informal dining,
including homemade breakfasts, lunches and traditional
afternoon teas that can be taken alfresco. These include
the ploughman’s with local ham and Kimmeridge Farm pork
sausage, steak and ale pie with Palmers Tally Ho ale, and
the Clavell’s larder board with Somerset brie, local ham and
chorizo. This being the coast, there’s also wholetail scampi,
seafood casserole with smoked mackerel and mussels in a
creamy white wine and brandy sauce. Wash them down with
a local Purbeck cider or Dorset bitter. The restaurant is open
for lunch and afternoon tea daily, and for dinner during the
summer months from April 1 to September 30.
