House Party

Front of House don ’ t always get the recognition – or the tips – they deserve for such a vital role in eating out . So it ’ s good to see the Bridport Local Food Group launch their Front of House Awards . Sponsored by Baboo Gelato , they aim to give recognition and show appreciation to people who serve our food from shops and takeaways to pubs and restaurants .

Winners on the night included ; Mike Reid of the Green Yard Café and a Team Award for Citrus Grove Café , both in Bridport , for the Café category ; Longs Fish and Chips , Bridport won both the Take Away Team Award and an individual gong which went to Sue Rattenbury ; Pickled Ginger , Bridport won Restaurant , and Beach and Barnicott won the Team Award in that category ; Public House winner was Geraldine Le Moing of the George Bridport and the Team Award went to Ropemakers , Bridport ; while for Food & Drink Retail , the winner was Angie Denman , Fruit ' n ' Two Veg Beaminster with the Team Award going to Frampton ’ s Butchers .
“ Over 500 nominations from 39 different establishments were received from the public ; praise indeed for the standard of service that had been given during their visit to our local food and drink establishments ,” said Kathy Dare , Chairman , Bridport Local Food Group . “ Everyone nominated , and the business they represent , should be very proud .”

Lyme Bay Winery are popping open the English sparkling after collecting a Gold for their Classic Cuvée English wine at the Quality Drinks Awards 2017 .

The Quality Drinks Award have an expert judging panel of chefs , food writers , restaurateurs and representatives of local food groups who look for excellence in wine , beer and spirits at UK grocery outlets .
James Lambert , managing director of Lyme Bay Winery , said : “ We ’ ve had an outstanding response to our English wine portfolio and are thrilled with our Quality Drinks award ! It ’ s been a highly successful year for us after achieving our long-term ambition , a BRC Global Standard ( Issue 7 ) with a Grade A rating , it is great to end the year on a high .”
