turminster Newton’s annual Cheese Festival (on the 9th and 10th September this
year) attracts food lovers like mice to mature cheddar. Over 50,000 people attend
what has become of the biggest events of its kind in the south of England.
It’s nothing less than a celebration of cheese in all its glory with some of the
country’s finest cheese makers showing their wares and letting you taste them too. It’s
not just cheese. Over 60 food producers, including many of your Dorset favourites,
will be selling their produce and there is live music, on-site arts and crafts and plenty
of children’s activities.
Don’t miss the Mousetrap Food Demonstration Theatre either. Sponsored by Harts
of Stur, it will feature top chefs and local producers passing on their knowledge. The
programme is being finalised, but oriental food supremo and School of Wok founder
Jeremy Pang will be there cooking up a storm. Other highlights include Mark
Hartstone from the award-winning La Fosse at Cranborne, Langham Wines’ Daniel
Ham and Al Wingate-Saul and his butchery masterclass. Harts are also holding their
store Open Weekend which will feature Jeremy Pang, experts from KitchenAid,
Lavazza and GreenPan as well as lots of special promotions.

Nicci and Emma
Sugar Coated
now have more
room to craft their
masterpieces.
T
he Angel Cake Company have been creating
heavenly cakes since 2007. From hand crafted
designer wedding cakes to celebration cakes that are
worth throwing a party for, they are spot on when
they say they “create art out of sugar”.
After ten years they are now changing their base
in Poundbury from a shop to a Cake Making Studio.
This not only gives them more room to work on their
cakes but means they are starting up their sugarcraft
classes and workshops again.
Owners and sisters Nicci Campbell and Emma
Hamriding will be teaching their art to small
groups of six students at a time, so everyone gets
the attention they need. The new space will also
host other tutors sharing expertise in chocolate
making, how to make macarons and other skills from the Sugarcraft Guild.
It makes the start of an exciting new phase for these award-winning cake designers that
are now able to pass on some of the secrets of working with sugar. Contact Angel Cake Co on
01305 213399 or visit www.angelcakecompany.co.uk for more details.
