his is perfectly timed for those of us who want to make a healthy start to
the new year after surviving Christmas over indulgence. Careys Manor
Hotel & SenSpa in the New Forest has developed healthy new menu options
with botanical superfood delivery company, Spring Green of London.
Spring Green founder Bonnie Stowell has devised new breakfast and lunch
menus which follow her philosophy of using fresh, balanced plant-based food.
The new spa menu is also free from wheat, dairy, and refined sugar. Choose
from options like a Radiance chia seed bowl infused with vanilla and almond
milk, or rye toast with smashed avocado for breakfast, or go for Spring Green
super beetroot burger or the botanical garden salad for lunch.
Lina Lotto from SenSpa at Careys Manor said: “Gone are the days of boring
healthy food – these dishes will please the most sophisticated of palates. Spring
Green’s motto of ‘Eat Yourself Beautiful’ resonates with SenSpa’s ethos of
achieving results with natural and organic treatments and products.”

A high quality Prosecco, using
grapes sourced from the best
areas around the Veneto and a
small quantity from Trentino.
Typical characteristic notes
of white peach and a hint of
lemon citrus. Light and fruity,
but with more intensity than
cheaper Prosecco, and a vibrant,
long-lasting fizz.

Rick Stein's Long Weekends
by Rick Stein
(BBC Books, £25)
The weekend is when most of us have time to cook something special,
even if we can’t follow Rick’s recent tour of Europe for his TV series.
So dividing the 100 recipes from 10 cities into a weekend of
breakfasts, lunches and mains with plenty of nibbles in between works
well. Rick Stein clearly loves the writing part of his job as much as the
cooking and it comes across in his portraits of the places (complete
with useful recommendations) and simple, authentic recipes, such as
Kozani chicken with prunes, saffron and paprika.
