A Males Perspective On Eating Disorders

By: Jake Falon

I have always been concerned about my apperance, even when I was a little boy. I always wanted to be big and strong like my father was. It hit me when I was a senior in highschool, I wasn't going to be 6'2 and built, I was stuck at 5'9 and lanky.

I would ingest only protien shakes, thinking it was healthier than a diet. I went to my doctor because I started fainting in school and he said the protien shakes were making me malnourished. My parents were notified and I was given a therapist. I went to her twice a week and worked out my body issues that I had. My therapist recommended me the site - boyanorexia.com. It helped me understand that I wasn't alone in this progress, that males do get eating disorders to.
