The author starts the paper with an introduction to the Victorian’s males, mentioning the way they dressed, and at the same time it mentions the queer men of the era, comparing them with the models and staying that they were the typical stereotype of homosexual men. Moreover, it talks about homosexuality as a problem of gender transitivity. It mentions that a gay guy is a person that has a female’s soul stucked in a man’s body, the same happen to girls that like other of the same sex.

Furthermore, while talking about the main characters of the book. The reading mentions that both; Algie and Jack, are more related to have this effeminate characteristics and they could be linked as queer men. Moreover, in the text there are a lot of examples in which they determine that those friends at the end had homosexual behavior and it is compared with Elton John and David Furnish.

In the other hand, the female characters of the book, play an interesting role. It says that women have male characteristics, as an example, the reading mentions Lady Bracknell, and it says that she has the role of the father in the book and not the role of a mother, because the father was the one that has the control at that time, but we can see in the story that Lady Bracknell is the one that says yes or not to the engagesment and also that she is the one woth power and control in the family.

Finally, this article is helpful to understand the how was the role of men, in this case explaining their queer behavior. This is a stereotype that also exists nowadays, to say that a male is effeminate make him gay or not. In the Victorian society we could say that the role of a man was to be masculine, but being effeminate was not bad at all. However, if we compare this to our current society we could see that we are living kind of the same, some males have this effeminate behavior while girls have a masculine behavior. At the end, everything is going to be the same but stereotypes are always there to complicate our lives.
