HISTORY: The Sabres lead the all-time series 60-2-1 ... Marian has won six in a row, dating back
to Feb. 18, 2011
BIG STORY: After last weekend’s disappointing sweep at the hands of Lake Forest, it’s crunch
time...While they still remain in sixth place in the NCHA Standings, there is a three-way tie for
seventh place between Lawrence, Northland, and MSOE...The Sabres could really benefit from a
weekend sweep heading into next week’s series against fourth-placed Concordia Wis.
STORYLINES
- - - TEAM SCOPE - - MARIAN: Their first weekend back in conference play left the Sabres winless and scratching their
heads. After a 4-3 overtime loss to Lake Forest on Saturday, Marian returned to the Blue Line on
Sunday hoping to earn a series split. Sitting tied at two heading into the third, Lake Forest ripped
the game open with back-to-back goals before adding the empty-netter to seal the 5-2 win. The
Sabres have not scored a power-play goal since their game against UW-Superior, going 0-for-26
since with the man-advantage.
NORTHLAND: Sitting just one spot ahead of Marian in the standings, Lake Forest has had a rough
go of things in the past month. After starting 5-2, the Foresters couldn’t escape a six game losing
streak. They’ve since responded by getting back into the win column last Saturday against St. Olaf.
On Friday, the Foresters battled to a 2-2 tie with Gustavus Adolphus. Both opponents defeated
Marian at the MIAC/NCHA Showcase in November.
WHO’S HOT: Senior Robbie Bailey has tallied points in three straight games that he’s appeared
in, scoring a goal and adding two assists. His physical presence can also be felt by opponents as
