The MARIAN HOCKEY one thing about sports is that there will always be adversities. Players can have injuries, or slumps. Teams can lose players for various reasons or go on losing streaks. The great players and teams always find a way to over come these struggles. Another sports story that always sticks out is when Mario Lemieux made a shocking announcement in 1993. He was having another great season, but found out that he had Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He would miss two months of the season getting radiation treatments. Lemieux would fly to Philadelphia after his last treatment. Super Mario would tally a goal and an assist in his return and receive a rare standing ovation in Philadelphia. The Penguins would go on to win 17 consecutive games and finish first overall for the first time in franchise history. This season hasn’t gone as planned for the Sabres. They have played in some close games this season, but haven’t gotten the results that they have wanted. But anything is possible in sports. I always believe that your next hot streak starts with your next game. You always have to keep a positive attitude. You have to learn from your mistakes, but not dwell on them for too long. I know that the Sabres aren’t getting Mario Lemieux back, but we have the talent and determination to get on a roll. Sometimes it takes a lucky break or bounce to help you out. Maybe it could just be something random that sparks the team. Mostly it just takes a little faith and a lot of hard work. But I know that this team will bounce back and have a memorable finish to the season. It’s your dream you can make it as big as you want. MUSabreAthletics @MUSabres MUSabres SabreAthletics IN FRONT OF THE MIC by ADAM HILL One of my favorite sports stories was is in Super Bowl XXIII. The 49ers were down 16-13 with just 3:20 left in the game. Joe Montana walked into his team’s huddle with the whole world watching and the Super Bowl on the line. I’m sure everybody was nervous about the situation. Montana asks his players if that is John Candy in the front row of the end zone seats. His whole team just looks at him with bewilderment. But it got their minds off of the pressure, and they would drive down the field and score a touchdown.
