MARIAN HOCKEY
STORYLINES
RUNNING OUT OF GAS: The opening frame has seen the Sabres outscore their opponenets
5-1. One would think that with a mark like that, they’d be 3-0, but for Marian, its the exact
opposite. The Sabres have been outscored in the third period 5-0, leading to their threegame losing skid to start the year.
SCORING MACHINE: Senior Tyler Klein has picked up exactly where he left off last season,
scoring four goals in his first three games. An All-Conference selection a season ago in the
MCHA, Klein has scored the first goal for the Sabres in each game so far this season.
THE BATTLE OF 41: Marian will play a home-and-home series this weekend with Lawrence
University. Natives of Appleton, Wis., the Vikings established the “Battle of 41” trophy
five years ago. Lawrence enters the weekend winless after dropping a pair of games to
Concordia Wis. last weekend (6-2, 3-2). Huck Saunders leads the Viking offense with two
goals and an assist, while Anton Olsson and Peter Emery have split the first two games of
the year in between the pipes.
