Natural Treatments and Ongoing Clinical Research to Treat BPH and Other Common Prostate Problems

As we have mentioned in Chapter 5, benign prostatic hyperplasia( BPH) is another name for an enlarged prostate due to the proliferation of tissue in the prostate. BPH leads to an obstruction of the bladder and lower urinary tract symptoms. A pathologist bases a definitive diagnosis of BPH on histology or review of a specimen of the prostate. A histological confirmation of BPH is required for diagnosis because men can experience lower urinary tract symptoms independently of BPH.
