What is Men's Health Awareness Month?

Men's Health Awareness Month is a campaign to bring awareness to all men's mental and physical health issues. This is often known for "Movember" or "No Shave November," it is mainly for prostate and testicular cancer as well as suicide prevention. The month is dedicated to enriching men's health and wellness through national screening, health fairs, media appearances, outreach activities and educational campaigns.

Did you know that men, on average, die almost five years earlier than women? Part of it is because men are more reluctant to go to a doctor, according to menshealthmonth.org. Studies show that women go to the doctor twice as much as men. Also, note that certain conditions are more   in men, which patients and their doctors should keep an eye on regularly. Thus, Men's Health Month is done annually to encourage men and boys to seek medical advice and early treatment for disease and injury. This is an opportunity for men and boys to educate themselves on how to take care of themselves.
