VISITOR SERVICE CENTRE

AT THE MAJDANEK MEMORIAL

According to Competition Jury, the said work is characterized by “high aesthetics of architectural solutions combined with functional and usable properties”. What is more, a distinguishing feature of the design consists in “the adaptation of its dimensions both to the existing Visitor Service Centre as well as the surroundings of the Monument-Gate. Building arrangement within the premises of the State Museum at Majdanek corresponds with the significance and location of the facility […]”.

The designed new section of Visitor Service Centre, with total extension surface of ca. 2200 m2, shall include: two exposition halls with storage areas, educational classrooms, a traditional and multimedia library, office spaces as well as social and technical facilities.

The design shall take into account the needs of people with disabilities and its implementation shall have a significant positive influence of the Museum’s activity in the area of education and exhibitions.

The State Museum at Majdanek has been granted the subsidy for the development of the architectural design within Polish Governmental Programme Cultural Infrastructure from the funds of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage originating from the Fund for Culture Promotion.

Project value: PLN 664 000.00

Amount of subsidy: PLN 495 000.00

Implementation period: 01.04.2022 – 31.12.2023

The winner of the competition for architectural concept of the extension of the Visitor Service Centre premises at the State Museum at Majdanek has been selected. Competition Jury chose the design by the INTRO75 Artur Wiśniewski studio from Poznań.
