Government Engagement

Deepening Existing Relationships

This year we have built upon the foundations of earlier dialogues with the Ministry of Manpower to provide real value to our members and unprecedented response to issues of urgency in the community . The Chamber hosted the Minister of Manpower and Ministers of State twice in dialogues with our Board and members but built on these high-profile engagements with deeper ties at an operational level . Following the announcement of changes to the LOC framework , we were the only international Chamber to offer direct access for our members to the Director of the Work Pass Division and her team and to provide answers to your time-sensitive questions on the changes in a published FAQ framework – a collaboration between the Chamber and MOM to support your needs . Later in the year , we provided a similar FAQ structure in response to increasing questions around the work pass entry approval process before the Vaccinated Travel Lane announcement .
With the Ministry for Trade and Industry , Enterprise Singapore , Economic Development Board and Singapore Business Federation , we have continued to maintain a presence at President and Director level in closed-door conversations and worked on several joint events for the broader membership on trade developments . Within the UK Government , we continued to provide opportunities for member businesses to connect with H . E . Kara Owen , the British High Commissioner , and Natalie Black , Her Majesty ’ s Trade Commissioner for Asia Pacific . We were delighted to receive a message of support via video for our AGM from the Rt Hon Greg Hands , Minister of State for Trade Policy , and hold a virtual fireside chat with the Rt Hon Penny Mordaunt MP . Later in the year , during the Carrier Strike Group ’ s visit to Singapore , we welcomed the Rt Hon Amanda Milling during her first visit to the region as Minister of State for Asia .
