Activities in 2021

The Trade Services Team have certainly been kept busy in 2021 . The years ’ activity started with two virtual Trade Missions for the Department for International Trade ( DIT ) Southwest and Northern Powerhouse regions ; both focused on technology . Collectively , 24 companies presented a variety of innovative technologies for multiple sectors that were seeking entry into the market .
This also enabled us to work collaboratively with other key stakeholders in the country such as the DIT Trade Specialists for technology , the Economic Development Board , Infocomm Media Development Authority , the UK Intellectual Property Office and members offering expertise such as Corporate Services Provider Vistra . As challenging as it was to maintain momentum via virtual means , we were able to host a networking session and facilitate multiple one-to-one meetings with prospective new clients for the delegations .
Singapore , the UK-ASEAN Business Council ( UKABC ), Singapore Maritime Institute and contributions from members such as law firm HFW , Norstar Shipping , Euromonitor and VF Asia Sourcing Ltd . In physical events , we showcased UK Meat and Dairy producers by working with the UK Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board on a series of intimate tastings , inviting key influencers and buyers in Singapore to sample the very best of British Cheese and to take part in a virtual ‘ cook off ’, kindly supported by member SwissHotel Fairmont .
As we look towards 2022 , the Chamber continues to support the interests of UK exports into Singapore , working with fine British produce , forward-thinking businesses and their unique products and services .
As the formal delivery partner for the UK Department for International Trade in Singapore , our work continued to present positive outcomes . Our Trade Services team generated over SG $ 47million in UK exports into the market for the financial year 20 / 21 . In addition , we provided consultative support to 303 UK SME ’ s looking to work in , or with , Singapore based firms .
We continued into the second year of providing proactive Trade Webinars , directed to UK companies wishing to understand better specific sectors and the potential opportunities in Singapore and the region . Commencing with education in February , two for maritime in May and June respectively , healthcare in July and FMCG / consumer goods in August . This activity equated to an audience of over 200 live attendees plus video content , and collaboration with the likes of the British Council , the UK Science and Innovation Network ( SIN ), the British High Commission , the Maritime & Port Authority of
