The Convent of Santa Clara built in the early seventeenth century.
Originally built as a convent in 1621, the Sofitel Santa Clara is a
landmark in the heart of Cartagena de Indias, where its walls, which
in ancient times served as a shield, combine with colonial balconies
and republican structures evoking the splendor of the past. In recognition
of its cultural and architectural wealth, the walled city, with its castles and
bastions, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984.
