John Desjardins, CPA, FCA
Over the past 25 years, John has built an
international reputation as one of Canada’s
top experts on forestry-related accounting
issues.
Since 2002, he has served as the national
forestry leader for KPMG. Among his
other leadership roles with the firm,
which he joined in 1989, John served as
partner-in-charge of the Greater
Vancouver audit practice for seven years
and as partner-in-charge of corporate
governance matters for 10 years.
Highly active in the profession, John
currently volunteers as a judge for the
CPA Canada Corporate Reporting
Awards, as a member of the CPABC
Public Accounting Working Group, and
as chair of the ICABC Practice Review & Licensing Committee. He is also a regular
lecturer for the Institute of Corporate Directors, teaching the Audit Committee
Effectiveness course and modules for the Director’s Education Program.
Equally active in the community, John volunteers considerable time each year to
support the United Way of the Lower Mainland’s annual fundraising campaign as
campaign leader for KPMG Vancouver. The office has contributed over $1.7 million
to the United Way over the past several years, and John has been a driving force
behind this success. Passionate about hockey and amateur sports, he also gives back
to the community by volunteering as a coach and manager for West Vancouver’s
minor hockey program.
