to accompany her could do so.
Jennifer ensured that her guests
enjoyed authentic Grenadian
experiences, and reviews were
stellar. Jennifer sold Jenny’s Place
in 2018 and returned to Canada
to live closer to her two children
and five grandchildren.
During that time with Jenny’s
Place in Grenada, many pleasant
memories were evoked.
Growing up on #13 Church
Street in St. George the island’s
capital, was indeed special.
Jennifer remembers fondly the
camaraderie that existed in the
neighbourhood; everyone was
friendly and genuinely interested
in the well-being of others;
respect was expected and given
without hesitation. That memory
was so special that she would
often take her guests to see her
childhood home on Church
Street. At seventeen, her parents
moved from the busy city to the
suburb of St. Paul’s into the home
where her grandparents once
lived. That too was pleasant.
Grand Etang also, is memoryfilled.
Now a National Park, it
was once a vacation spot for her
family and others on the island.
Jennifer remembers vacationing
there as a child in the “holiday
house” that was available for
rent from the Government.
Although there was no electricity
in the house, they did have
lanterns and camping there
was the highlight of many
summers, walking through
the trails, searching for wildlife
such as armadillos and resident
monkeys! Quarantine Station,
located at the south of the island
was also a family vacation spot.
There were two large houses
on site and after the war, they
were rented out to vacationers.
Her family enjoyed many
vacations here, fishing, relaxing
and enjoying the sounds of the
ocean.
