This Organization
was founded one
year after Hurricane
Ivan devastated
Barbuda in 2017. They
exist to energize their
communities into being
progressive, adaptive, resilient
and vibrant.
Proudly one of the first Barbudan-led Non-
Governmental Organization’s (NGO) on the
island, their Directors all reside in the community,
making this a grassroots organization serving as
a primary vehicle for popular participation in the
social and economic development of the island.
Inspired by Organizations such as Samaritan’s
Purse, UNDP, Ground Truth and others,
barbudanGO founders, Asha Frank, Pethrolynna
Isaac and Brandon Walker saw a dire need to
create a formal organization to ensure the island
will be better prepared when the next Hurricane
passes by. They recognized the need for the
development and strengthening of civil society
on Barbuda, especially after the amazingly
exemplary work done on their island after
the hurricane by the Organizations they are
patterned against.
barbudanGO aims to
create opportunities that
will sustain the pillars of
their community: alternative
education, preservation
of the environment, disaster
preparedness, history and culture.
Supporting barbudanGO helps:
1. Local authorities in delivering their disaster
mitigation programmes
2. The implementation of summer camps and
education programs, such as a technology-based
summer camp for teenagers
3. Their attempts to conserve the environment
through activities such as securing clean water,
enhancing green spaces and other essential eco
systems
You can support barbudanGO through annual
cash contributions from your corporate social
responsibility budget, one-off cash endowments,
technical assistance and in-kind support.
