Once only the relm of big offshore battle-waggons,Carolina-style, cold-molded custom builds are coming to skiffs and bayboats. While maybe not as light as some of the modern carbon fiber composite builds, cold molded boats carry their own advantages. Smoother, quieter rides and more flexible hull designs offer shallow-water anglers options not found in other construction methods. Although custom built boats are usually more expensive than their cookie-cutter, assembly line counter-parts, when it comes to boats, you get what you pay for.

Cold-molded wood construction has been around for generations. The technique involves laminating layers of wood, bonded together with epoxy. The process all starts with a jig and the hull laying bottom side up. Okume plywood is then layered on the jig and finished off. Since the boat is not extracted from a mold, more complex hull designs can be constructed, making for a gorgeous, one-of-a-kind hull shape that is bound to turn heads at the fuel dock.
