n Best Energy Management / Conservation of Resources The winner in this category, the Hannover Congress Centre( HCC), has achieved an enormous reduction in its CO 2 emissions and water consumption through a combination of modernisation projects and switching its energy supplier. In addition, the HCC commissioned the development of an IT solution to link the EBMS event software to its building services technology. This automatically ensures that its halls and conference rooms are heated only during the times relevant for the event.
Other companies recognised in this category were the Parkhotel Stuttgart Messe-Airport and Deutsche Bahn AG, Germany’ s national railway company.
n Best Sustainable Event This category was won by Congress Center Leipzig as the host of the 50 th ICCA Congress from 22 to 26 October 2011. As a member of the marketing cooperation“ Feel the
Spirit”, which was coordinated by Leipzig Tourismus und Marketing GmbH and Leipziger Messe GmbH, Congress Center Leipzig and its local partners designed and implemented a sustainable mobility solution for the congress. The“ ICCA Green Traffic Project”, led by apprentices from the various companies, developed a transfer solution for congress participants, which used only local public transport services. Not only did the solution prove itself sustainable but the reception among participants and the public was overwhelmingly positive.
The other nominee in the category Best Sustainable Event was the 34 th Protestant Kirchentag Hamburg 2013- the nationwide gathering of the protestant church in Germany.
