College of Medicine faculty named NAI Senior Members

Two Florida State University College of Medicine faculty members have been named Senior Members of the National Academy of Inventors, or the NAI, recognizing their success in leadership and research.
Professor Pradeep Bhide, Ph. D., and Associate Professor Ewa( Ava) Bienkiewicz, Ph. D., faculty in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, are two of 230 total members inducted in 2026 – the largest class of Senior Members in NAI history.
Patent holders are typically nominated by their institution, and the NAI Senior Member Advisory Committee evaluates nominees based on their innovation, commercialization, and demonstrated mentorship. Bhide and Bienkiewicz have both excelled in these criteria.
Since joining FSU College of Medicine in 2011, Bhide has worked to develop and commercialize therapeutic strategies for ADHD, memory deficits, addiction, and fragile X syndrome. Aside from holding several patents, Bhide has continued to be a strong leader both at FSU and at his own startup companies.
