FOCUS ON: SHEFFIELD PRECISION MEDICAL
Sheffield Precision Medical (SPM) manufactures ‘make to print’
generic and custom orthopaedic surgical instruments.
Winner of a number of export
achievement awards, SPM has
grown its export customer base
from 5% of turnover to in excess
of 35% within the past four
years. As SPM enters 2015, their
global customer base includes
three US States, with potential
for a fourth during the first
quarter. SPM began exporting
to Australia during quarter four
of 2014, and also gained new
clients in Europe.
The expansive variety
of product is due to
the capabilities of their
highly skilled design and
manufacturing engineering
team who work closely with
international client OEM
design teams.
Whilst SPM does not currently
manufacture directly for the
emerging Chinese market,
there is future potential,
especially as international
regulatory standards become
more aligned. SPM has longterm projects underway
towards gaining a share of
the growing Chinese
requirement for precision
made instruments.
