Being a little of the macabre bent, I decided to make a trip down to the famous Parisian Catacombs. I know you’re thinking, why the Catacombs? It’s not medieval. True, while the bones on display in its depths date from the French Revolution to late 19th century, the history of the Catacombs does have a medieval past.

The Bourgeois de Paris has left us an account of life in 15th century Paris when the city was occupied by the English and the ravages of war were all around them.
