Geography in Medieval Japan
More than 50% of the Japanese landmass is mountainous and covered by forests. It is in the ring of fire. Therefore it is located in an area where many tectonic plates meet which causes there to be a lot of earthquakes, volcanoes, and natural hot springs in Japan. The highest elevation and most famous volcano in Japan is Mt. Fuji. The climate in Japan varies quite a bit because it extends from north to south. The climate in the biggest cities is temperate or subtropical and has four seasons. The summer is quite hot and humid while the winters never get too cold.
