SPECIALISATION OVERVIEW
The Medical Services Profession within the RAF, comprises Medical Officer, Nursing Officer, Dental Officer and Medical Support Officers( Mainstream, Environmental Health, Physiotherapy and Pharmacist( Reserves Only)). Registered Nurse( Mental Health), Registered Nurse( Adult), Environmental Health Practitioner, Operating Department Practitioner, Biomedical Scientist, Radiographer, Pharmacy Technician, Dental Nurse, RAF Medic and Student Nurse.
Professions in the RAF are distinct areas of defence expertise where common skills and attributes are required to deliver on demand. Whilst Service Personnel can expect to spend the majority of their career in their chosen Specialisation they may be employed in any of the Specialisations within their Profession: this will depend upon aptitude, qualifications, career aspirations and the Service need.
If you are currently studying at a UK medical school or are applying for a place at a UK medical school, the Royal Air Force could sponsor your Medical training, in the form of a bursary or a cadetship, leading ultimately to a career as a Royal Air Force Medical Officer.
