MEDICAL OFFICER

SECONDARY HEALTH CARE

The RAF has numerous opportunities for secondary care specialists . Most are based in NHS hospitals around the UK ; however , there are various other choices available , including military facilities around the world .
As a specialist trainee or a fully qualified consultant , you can expect a short posting to a medical centre to gain first-hand experience of dayto-day life in the RAF . Then you will progress to a Joint Hospital Group ( JHG ) or an NHS hospital to complete your specialist training or to work as a consultant . You ’ ll practise alongside civilian colleagues and have the same opportunities – and more – to learn new skills and progress your career . Whatever your chosen specialisation , we ’ ll do our best to send you to an appropriate centre of excellence , whether it ’ s in the UK or abroad . As your career progresses , you ’ ll have more opportunities to use your skills in unique environments , including on overseas postings , military operations and even disaster relief operations .
