O
n the 26th of April, a group of retired
veterans who either served in the Kore-
an, Vietnam, or Second World War were
set out from Iowa, Illinois, & Florida to visit
Washington DC for the first time.
They visited sites such as memorials for the
Korean war, and the Vietnamese war and other
historical sites such as the Abraham Lincoln
memorial and see the white house which were
all within walking distance of each other.
This was an initiative to give these elderly
22
men a chance to relive their time in service and
visit the historical sites which they never had
the chance to visit even after they left service
which is odd because war memorials are dedi-
cated to honor the soldiers who served a par-
ticular war, to remember those who lost their
lives, and to educate and remind the general
public of its history.
Among the Gentlemen whose communi-
ties raised money for their trip was the oldest
veteran who is 97 years old and served in the
second world war and the 4000th veteran to
be enlisted ever for a war.
