D O’S
Okay, Consider this a list of New-york-
er things to do (not to be confused with
tourist activities and attractions to visit).
I spent 10 days in New-York and got the
chance to venture all around the big city
not just as a tourist but got to peek into the
day in the life of.
1.
Subway + tram station
Being a New yorker is great if you hate driv-
ing like me! and if you’ve got google maps
to show you which subway you should
catch and of course there was riding in the
sky on the Tram!
1.
A Cosmopolitan on a rooftop
In the city of Carrie Bradshaw, in the birth-
place of the world famous ‘cosmopolitan’ it
was inevitable that I had to have a glass of
the “pink juice” in my most flattering outfit
on a rooftop!
1.
Hangout at the Met Steps
I got the “blair waldorf ” feeling at the met
(aka visited a museum) about 3 days before
the met gala Coincidentally enough we vis-
ited the Metropolitan Museum of Art five
days before the party of the year known to
the high fashion and pop-culture world
1.
Celebrated a holiday in New
York fashion
Cinco De Mayo is commemorates the
Mexican army's unlikely victory over the
French forces of Napoleon III on May 5,
1862, at the Battle of Puebla. And is still
celebrated by wearing a sombrero (if ac-
cessible) and devouring in mexican culture
like their cuisine and drinks! I relished in
a spanish themed branch that saturday and
it was quite the refill!
1.
Art gallery visit
I got to briefly walk around the met mu-
seum and admire some old european art
(my favorite genre of art) but while I was
in new york I got to attend an evening art
gallery exhibit for ugandan contemporary
art and learn more on the low key and up-
coming art scene back in Kampala. I also
got to interact and socialize with a few
ugandan-american citizens on their expe-
riences and lives living between back home
1.
Staying in an apartment
in Uganda and The USA. over giant pizza
slices and drinks served at the exhibition. Most days during my stay in the Big Apple

seeing a broadway show
to an art gallery exhibition with free pizza I simply had no time to check out a broad-
and a glass of aperol

stars!

1.
NY Rats
It may not taste like you’re authentic italian New york is also a home to the largest ro-
pizza but a slice is bigger than a pair of the dents you will ever see on earth and I am
biggest hands you’ve seen put together and ever so grateful for my mother’s prayers!
is quite the handy meal if you’re on the go I didn’t even get a glance on any of them
even on the subway track which is a popu-
around the city
lar place to spot one

survive a day out in the cold
my first day out in new york was the cold-
3. Live show tapings
est I ever felt and was probably one of my

few downers about the big apple, we had of your favorite tv shows are absolutely
to ride on the top deck of an open roof bus free you just have to book your tickets ear-
tour in 7 degrees weather (celsius) and it ly enough! A deep regret of mine will be
was the worst I had ever endured in my life not getting to see the likes of Jimmy Fal-
because my hands felt like they froze to the lon, The View ladies, or Wendy Williams
point of numbness and there was also quite live when I should have! However when
a drizzle throughout the day
we visited and got to tour NBC studios we
got to shoot our own impromptu live show

I was driven across it on a night out en- desk and played the role of the ‘talk show

route to Harlem) technically speaking, I
didn’t walk across the bridge like you are
