SanJenko is the founder of PowHERhouse and reGEN media and an Indigenous entrepreneur , Impact Media Producer and mentor to Indigenous leaders and changemakers . She is a former two-term municipal politician and a community economic development enthusiast . She is a modern-day media medicine woman with twenty-plus years of a career commitment to mirroring human potential to activate the clarity of what is possible while holding space for healing .
Kukpi7 ( Chief ) Wayne Christian is of Secwépemc and Syilx Okanagan ancestry and remains rooted in the culture , principles , and laws of his Nation . His family and teachings are the touchstones of his work and underpin more than 40 years of leadership . He is a proud father of seven children and over 30 grandchildren , who give him the strength and determination to continue working to ensure a better future for the next generations . He was elected Chief in 1979 and led Canada ' s first community-controlled child welfare legislation . His leadership philosophy values inclusivity , respect , transparency and accountability . He believes leadership begins by building strong communities with young people at the centre .
For The Children is produced by reGEN Impact media and is generously supported by the Government of Canada , the Gibsons Public Market , and amplified by PowHERhouse Relational Leadership Accelerator . A secondary event is scheduled on October 4th in Vernon , BC , at the Towne Theatre ’ s Indigenous Showcase .
For The Children runs at the Gibsons Public Market September 27th - 30th from 10 am - 5 pm , with an in-person ceremony and live-streamed listening circle happening September 28th . Screenings of Coming Home will run at regular intervals on September 29th and 30th .
