The Unmanned Systems Lab KEVIN KOCHERSBERGER | Director
The Unmanned Systems Lab is focused on the development of novel autonomous aerial systems that serve a diverse audience , from NGOs working in the developing world to our nation ’ s defense and energy laboratories . To accomplish our goals , mechanical engineering students will find themselves integrated with electrical and computer engineers , aerospace and ocean engineers , and computer science students . This diversity of talent is a strength of the lab , both from an educational standpoint and in capability to design , build and fly some of the most advanced aerial autonomous systems in existence . Perception , navigation , controls , data analytics , aerodynamics , and mechanical and electrical design are technology areas realized in flight experiments first conducted locally , but in many cases proven to critical clients in remote areas such as Malawi and the Nevada desert .
