The Role Of An Authorising Engineer: The Authorising Engineer acts as an independent adviser to an organisation.
The AE should be appointed by the organisation to provide services in accordance with the organisation ' s relevant Safe Systems of Work, as well as HSE, Health Technical Memoranda( HTM) or Joint Service Publication( JSP) guidance.
The AE ' s role is to act as a technical assessor who makes recommendations for the appointment of Authorised Persons( AP ' s). Once AP ' s are appointed, the AE will continue to monitor the performance of the service and provide annual audits. With regards to audit in particular, the AE should remain independent of the operational structure of the organisation.
