MCC Art Dept . have had our first few sessions with our wonderful artist in residence Marta Golubowska . She is a ceramic artist who won the Emerging Artist Award from Kildare County Council in 2016 and she also works with community and school groups on various projects .
1st year students are creating clay tiles based on nature and their surrounding and 2nd year students are working on tiles based on their identity and self portrait . We hope to turn these fantastic pieces into murals that will be displayed in the school for years to come .
Here is a selection of photos from Ms Murhy ' s two class groups and the work they have made so far . Marta will also be working with Mr Mallon ' s 1st and second year classes in the next few weeks .
First Year Maynooth BNS Film Award Win
A group of First Year boys enjoyed an Awards Ceremony this afternoon . A film they made in 6th class in St Mary ' s BNS with their teacher Mr Terry was recognised by the judges of FIS Film Project .
Their film was called Maynooth in Lockdown . They were nominated for an award in three categories and won the award for Best Comedy Film 2021 .
The now First Years joined with their old classmates in MPP and MCC for a virtual awards ceremony . Well done lads on your achievement .
