Senior Hurling Team Secure First Win in Division A Having ventured into uncharted territory this year by entering into the 'A' competition for the first time, the senior hurlers have made a fine start. The Maynooth men started off with a first rate 4 point win over defending champions St. Benildus. In a fast paced game, the lads had to overturn a halftime deficit to claim their first win in Dublin's top tier. Conor McBrearty's brace of goals had a big bearing on the outcome of the tussle, while the performances of Cathal McCabe, Harry Dunne and Matty Eustace certainly caught the eye. The lads followed up this victory with a convincing win over St. Aidan's to claim a home semi final and clinch their place in the knockout stages. Shane Whyte’s pace, Eoin Kelliher’s power and David Qualter’s accuracy tormented the Aidans defence for the entire hour as Maynooth proved too strong for their Dublin counterparts. Attention now turns to preparations for the business end of the championship which is likely to resume in November/early December time. Maynooth proved too strong for their Dublin counterparts. Following a couple of solid performances in the group stage, Maynooth confirmed their place in the quarter final by overcoming St. Macdaras Templogue in a competitive game at Moyglare. Fine forward play from Ciaran Flanagan, Darragh Power, Jack Murnane and James Dolan set a pace that was too strong for the Templeogue side to contend with. Strong performances at the back by Conor Whyte, Daniel O'Meara and Ultan Conaty also laid the foundations of an important win. Again, preparations are well underway for a home quarter final vs St. Colmcilles, which will take place in the coming weeks. With two large and committed panels, it's great to see hurling thriving in both schools. First and second years will get their own chance to showcase their skills after Christmas when training and competitions start up. 10 Maynooth Education Campus
